High Turbid Water Means Streamer Fishing
The recent rains have brought some high and turbid water. This is a great time to throw some streamers. I target the clear feeder streams that come to mix with the off color main stream flow. Using a big articulated black or olive conehead I will cast upstream and let it sink to where the two stream colors mix then let it swing off the bottom and thru the current. I repeat this method while quartering downstream through that beat. Once you get a thump use a stripset rather than a high hook set. I always favor a 6wt (Sage R8) with a chunky weight forward line (Arflow Universal Taper) Oh yeah, don’t be afraid to use some heavy pound test on a short leader which is disguised in the turbid water.
